Monrovia, Los Angeles County
The San Gabriel Mountains begin at the last row of houses in Monrovia. Monrovia Canyon Park, at the top of town, has a shaded trail to a thirty-foot waterfall, and black bears regularly wander down from the forest into backyards and swimming pools. Novelist Upton Sinclair lived in a house on Myrtle Avenue for more than twenty years.
